JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The North Florida softball team fell in both games to FIU Wednesday at the UNF Softball Complex.
The Ospreys (24-21) gave up the lead in the seventh inning of game one in a 7-6 loss, before being shutout in game two 10-0 in five innings.
In the first game of the day, FIU jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, but the Ospreys got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a string of RBI singles by senior
Kelly Wilson, junior
Shelby Duncan and junior
Stacy McClelland.
The Ospreys to a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth off of a two-RBI triple by freshman
Alex Arciola and a bunt-single RBI by junior
Lexi Taylor.
FIU took a 7-6 lead with three runs in the top of the seventh with a two-RBI double and the eventual game-winning RBI single.
In game two, FIU used a three-run home run to break a scoreless game in the top of the third, then scored seven runs in the top of the fifth off of a two-run double, another three-run home run, and another two-RBI double to push the lead to 10-0.
The Ospreys were shut out in the bottom of the fifth, ending the game.
North Florida is back in conference action this Saturday and Sunday with a three-game series with Lipscomb.
