Box Score (PDF)
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb (20-12, 2-3 A-Sun) scored the game's final eight runs in an 11-3, game two victory over North Florida (26-12, 5-3 A-Sun) this afternoon. The loss for the Ospreys is the first since Mar. 28 and puts an end to a seven-game winning streak.

Lipscomb broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth on back-to-back two-out, RBI hits by Hunter Hanks and Chucky Vasquez. The Ospreys threatened in the top of the seventh when they loaded the bases but were unable to plate a run. The Bisons rode the momentum of the big defensive stand and padded their lead with a five-run rally in the bottom half of the frame. The rally included eight Bison hits including a two-run homer by Hunter Hanks, his second of the series.

Junior Corbin Olmstead belted his sixth home run of the year in the second inning. The two-run shot gave the Ospreys a 2-1 advantage, their only lead of the game. Olmstead went 1-for-4 with two RBIs on the game.

For the second time in two days, Donnie Dewees recorded a triple and eventually scored on a RBI ground out by Trent Higginbothem to tie the game up at three in the sixth inning. Dewees, who came into ranked fifth in the NCAA in triples, tied the program record with his 11th career triple.

On offense, the Ospreys had only five hits, their second lowest single game total this season. North Florida came into the series ranked second in the country in hits.

After the Ospreys tied the game up in the sixth they were held scoreless by the lefty reliever Nick Andros who picked up the three-inning save. He allowed just two hits and struck out two in a full three innings of work.

Osprey starting pitcher Tyler DuPont had his shortest outing of the year, tossing just two innings and walked a season-high three batters in that span. The lefthander was responsible for just one of the three runs he allowed and struck out one batter.

Senior Dan VanSickle came on in relief in the third and went on to pitch 3.2 innings, matching a season-high. He allowed two runs, struck out two batters and was charged with his first loss of the year.

The rubber game of the three-game set will be tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. EST. North Florida will send right-hander Matt Vaka (1-0) to the hill and he will be opposed by Denton Norman (3-3).
