JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The North Florida softball team closed their second home tournament with two wins against Stony Brook Sunday afternoon at the UNF Softball Complex.
The Ospreys (13-6) finish their weekend 3-1 and wrap up their home tournament schedule for the 2015 season.
In the first game of the day, the Ospreys used an eight-run first inning to get up early on the Seawolves. Five different players notched RBIs in the inning, with senior
Kelly Wilson finishing the inning off with a two-RBI double down the left field line.
Stony Brook put five runs up in the top of the sixth inning, but junior
Stacy McClelland responded with a two-run home run to make the score 10-5.
In the second game of the day, it was a scoreless pitcher's duel until the top of the fourth, when McClelland hit her second home run of the day to make it 2-0.
It was a back and forth affair that was tied at the end of seven innings. In the top of the eighth, McClelland and junior
Katie Mandigo hit back-to-back RBI doubles to make the score 5-3.
For the Ospreys in the bullpen, Seniors
Kaylie Wallace and
Kayla Goff earned the wins today. Wallace improved to 4-2 while Goff improved to 7-1 on the year.
The Ospreys now hit the road to the USF Under Armour Series in Clearwater, Fla.
