@OspreySB Sweeps First Day of Under Armour Showcase

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The North Florida Softball team defeated Central Michigan 1-0 and Seton Hall 10-4 in their first day at the USF Under Armour Showcase at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Fla.

The Ospreys (15-6) have now won five straight and eight of their last 10.

In the first game against Central Michigan, freshman Geneva Santos and senior Kaylie Wallace combined for a two-hit shutout. The win marks the first in Santos' career with the Ospreys. Santos struck out seven in 5.1 innings of work.

Freshman Stephanie Shchmidt notched the eventual game-winning single in the fifth inning, scoring junior Lexi Taylor.

In the second game of the day against Seton Hall, The Ospreys bat got working early. Junior Stacy McClelland hit her seventh home run of the season in the bottom of the first inning with a solo shot over the right field fence.

North Florida used two four-run innings to put away the Pirates. Freshman Alex Arciola cleared the bases with a double to left field in the bottom of the second, while McClelland and junior Katie Mandigo had back-to-back RBI singles in the bottom of the fourth.

Senior Kelly Wilson added her second home run of the season in the bottom of the fifth. The solo home run pushed the lead to the eventual final of 10-4.

Against Seton Hall, it was Wallace who earned the complete-game win. She surrendered four runs while striking out eight.
