Live Scoring

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida women's tennis has its first two home matches of the season this weekend at the UNF Tennis Complex. UNF faces UNC Wilmington on Friday at 2 p.m., and then Troy on Sunday at 11 a.m., during home-opening weekend.

"Both teams are composed predominantly of gritty competitors that are going to battle hard," said head coach Audra Cohen. "We are going to have to stay focused and determined on every court in order to get the job done. Our goal is to enjoy and embrace the pressure and get through the individual moments of doubt with our team strength. I'm proud of how much this team has come together as a unit and am excited to helped them defend their Nest at home."

The Ospreys started their 2015 spring season two weekends ago at the elite ITA Kick-Off Weekend at the Coral Gables site. UNF fell to both nationally-ranked Miami and USF. However, Michelle Valdez was tabbed the Atlantic Sun's first Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Jan. 28 as a result of her play at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. Valdez had a strong 6-2, 6-1 victory over USF's Juliana Cardosa, which was UNF's only point of the weekend. Valdez had also faced No. 58 Wendy Zhang of Miami at the event.

UNC Wilmington enters Friday's match with a 2-0 record. The Seahawks began the season with a 7-0 sweep of Norfolk State on Jan. 17 and then added another 7-0 shutout on Jan. 30 against USC Upstate. UNC Wilmington has yet to drop a single set this season, which includes a perfect 6-0 doubles record. Friday's match is the first of two matches for the Seahawks this weekend as they also play Troy in a neutral-site match on Saturday at the UNF Tennis Complex.

Troy comes into the weekend with a 1-2 record and makes its second trip to the Sunshine State this spring. The Trojans opened 2015 with a pair of 4-3 setbacks at both Stetson (Jan. 24) and UCF (Jan. 25). However, Troy comes off a 7-0 shutout of Alabama State last Friday. Anja Cosovic and Trang Huynh bring a perfect 3-0 No. 1 doubles mark into the weekend. The Trojans are also 3-0 at No. 2 singles behind Huynh (1-0) and Sanae Ohta (2-0). Ohta has a 3-0 singles mark so far this spring.
