UNF-FGCUJACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The North Florida volleyball team opens up an important four-match Atlantic Sun Conference road stretch this weekend with matches at FGCU on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday against Stetson at 3 p.m.
The Ospreys head into the weekend on a high note following a 3-0 sweep over Florida A&M on Wednesday in the squad's final non-conference match of the season. With the win, UNF improved to 17-8 on the year but our looking to halt a five-match skid in conference play having slipped to 3-5 in the Atlantic Sun.
"We continue to improve as a team," said head coach
Steve Loeswick. "We are in the second half of the conference season and have the opportunity to move up the standings if we can play well over the next couple weekends on the road. We are excited to get back on the court in league play."
Against FAMU,
Tessa Alyman led a balanced Osprey offense finishing with 11 kills followed by seven from
Carina Hoff and a quartet of players with six.
Ashley LaBorde paced the UNF backrow collecting 14 digs while
Kimberly Ferguson chipped in nine. As a team, North Florida hit .349 while holding the Rattlers to just a .160 performance.
Following the FGCU/Stetson swing, UNF closes out its road schedule next weekend at NJIT (Nov. 6) and Lipscomb (Nov. 8).
