JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The North Florida men's soccer team will play its final exhibition game of the season on Sunday evening against Rollins College at Hodges Stadium. The Ospreys will look to build off a solid defensive effort put forth against FIU in their first preseason match of the season on Monday night.
Rollins was one of two teams from the Sunshine State Conference to qualify for the NCAA Tournament and finished the 2013 season with a record of 17-3. The Tars upset No. 18 West Florida, 4-1 in the first round before bowing out in the quarterfinals to Carson-Newman, 2-1.
"It is still preseason for us so we are looking to evaluate players from the first preseason game to the next," said fourth-year Head Coach Derek Marinatos. "We will be looking to work on both our attack and defensive rotations within our formation."
Rollins was picked to finish second in the annual Sunshine State Conference Men's Soccer Coaches Poll. The Tars return just six starters from last year's lineup including 2013 SSC Freshman of the Year Tosan Popo. The Ospreys and Tars squared off in an exhibition last season and played to a 3-3 draw at Hodges Stadium. Before moving on to the Atlantic Sun, the two squads both competed in the SSC and all-time series is tied at 3-3-1.
Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. and admission is free to all North Florida men's soccer exhibition games.
