Box Score (PDF)
TAMPA, Fla. – North Florida (20-24) scored five unanswered runs for a 6-5, comeback victory over in-state foe, South Florida (24-20) this evening. Trailing by four after four innings of play, the Ospreys scored five-straight runs to force a split in the two-game, season series.

Senior Peyton Walsh delivered the go-ahead run with a single to left field in the top of the seventh that scored Alex Bacon and gave the Ospreys the 6-5 lead. The previous batter, Garrick Ferguson tied the game up at five, legging out an infield single that scored Corbin Olmstead. Walsh tied a career-high with three hits and drove in a career best three runs.

Junior Evan Incinelli settled in after surrendering four runs over the first three innings of work. The right-hander pitched into the eighth inning and struck out two batters to earn his fourth victory of the season. Reliever Tyler DuPont came on in the eighth inning and got the Ospreys out of jam, stranding two runners remaining in the game for the four-out save.

For the 12th game this season, Drew Weeks had three or more hits. He finished the night 3-for-5 with a run scored an RBI. His nation-leading batting average moves up to .451 and his 83 hits on the season is the third most in a single season in the UNF Division I era.

The continued offensive success in the middle innings allowed the Ospreys erase the three run deficit. Over the weekend, the Ospreys scored 24 runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings and they scored four more today.

Freshman Patrick Ervin began the Osprey comeback in the top of the fourth with a single down the left field line that scored Weeks. After another run in the fourth by USF, the Ospreys scored again on an infield hit by Weeks to make the score 5-2.

With the bases loaded in the top of the sixth, North Florida pulled within a run on a two-RBI single by Walsh to make the score, 5-4. Bulls reliever Jarrick Serrallonga prevented the Ospreys from breaking the game open, stranding three runners in the frame.

The Osprey defense came up clutch in the final innings. North Florida squandered a potential momentum building  opportunity for the Bulls in the bottom of the seventh as the lead-off batter, Lawrence Pardo reached on a single. Incinelli was able to induce a ground ball to second in which Ervin and Kyle Brooks turned a double play. The Bulls once again had the lead-off batter on in the ninth but DuPont prevented a sacrifice bunt by cutting down the runner at second. He retired the next two batters seal the North Florida victory.

For the 10th straight game, the Ospreys had 10 or more hits, out-hitting the Bulls 15-11. North Florida avenges a 12-1 loss from earlier this season and tie the all-time series at 6-6.

The Ospreys will make their way up to Orlando for a non-conference tilt with UCF tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. It will be the final game of the week before taking on Georgia Tech on Tuesday. Atlantic Sun play will continue on May 9th with a three game series against Lipscomb at Harmon Stadium.
