#MTEN Downs USC Upstate, Stays Undefeated in A-Sun Play

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—Zach Goldberg clinched the match for the University of North Florida men's tennis as the Ospreys downed USC Upstate 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex.
 
"It was a long weekend and I'm excited for the guys to win 5-2 over a well-coached USC Upstate team," said head coach Mark Finnegan. "We are still undefeated in conference and are dealing with some adversity, but our guys are responding strongly. We are excited to go on the road again to play two great A-Sun teams."
 
The Ospreys clinched the doubles points with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. At No. 1 doubles, Yannick Zuern and Caio Gomes defeated Matthias Kidler and Gonzalo Blanco 8-3. Norbert Nemcsek and Mark Hamill downed Rajanvir Dharni and Pedro Carvalho 8-4 to clinch the doubles point.
 
In singles, the Ospreys grabbed wins at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 singles. Nemcsek put the Ospreys up 2-1 with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Ramon Simonetti at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3 singles, Zuern beat Blanco 6-4, 6-1. Goldberg clinched the match with an 6-4, 6-4 win over Yvon Haessig at No. 5 singles. At No. 1 singles, Gomes grabbed the final singles point for the Ospreys as he defeated Kidler 4-6, 7-5, 10-7.
 
The Ospreys return to action next weekend as they travel to Georgia to face Kennesaw State on Friday, April 4 at 1 p.m., at Fair Oaks Park.
