MOBILE, Ala. – Pablo Tellez and Zach Goldberg's win at No. 3 doubles clinched the match as the University of North Florida men's tennis team captured a 4-3 victory over South Alabama on Thursday afternoon at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
 
"The team came out strong today especially considering the tough conditions," said head coach Mark Finnegan. "The guys are really growing as tennis players and it showed in the doubles today when they came out with unbelievable energy."
 
Due to the threat of inclement weather, the day started with singles first. South Alabama jumped out to a quick start when #117 Daniel Leitner obtained a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Caio Gomes at the No. 1 spot, but the Ospreys countered when Norbert Nemcsek was victorious with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Manuel Belda at the No. 2 spot, which tied the score 1-1.  The Jaguars claimed a win at the No. 5 spot, but Jack Findel-Hawkins won a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 match over Tuki Jacobs at the No. 3 position to tie it 2-2. The Ospreys then went up 3-2 after Yannick Zuern captured a three-set victory of Gerhard Gruindelingh. Zuern claimed the first set 6-4, before falling 6-5 (7-4) in the second. Zuern won the third set 6-1. South Alabama was then victorious in the No. 6 spot, forcing the teams to go to doubles to break the 3-3 tie.
 
In doubles, Findel-Hawkins and Nemcsek gave UNF its first doubles win by defeating Belda and Juan Troglia 6-4 at the No. 1 spot. The Ospreys secured the doubles point and match point when Tellez and Goldberg posted a 6-4 win over Jacobs and Shayann Vaezzadeh at the No. 3 position.
 
The Ospreys have Friday off before taking on LSU at the W.T. Robinson Tennis Stadium on Saturday at 1 p.m. EST/ Noon CST.
