Game Notes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the first time in nearly four weeks, University of North Florida women's basketball plays on its home court as the Ospreys host Thomas University (Ga.) on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m., from UNF Arena.

"We are looking forward to playing at home again," said head coach Mary Tappmeyer. "We had a long stretch of six road games, so it will be nice to play at UNF Arena and in front of our fans. Thomas will be a good challenge for our squad and we look to continue our development as a team in preparation for conference play."

The Ospreys have not played at home since their Elementary School Day game against Edward Waters on Nov. 18. Since then, UNF went 3-3 during a six-game road swing and comes off a thrilling 54-53 victory at Tennessee State last Saturday. Destinee Smith hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer that lifted the Ospreys to the comeback win. UNF had trailed by four points with 5.1 seconds left on the clock.

Single-game tickets are $6 Adult and $4 Youth 17-and-under, Senior Citizens 55+, UNF Faculty/Staff and Military. Students with a valid Osprey 1 Card and children 2-and-under at free. Tickets can be purchased online at www.UNFOspreys.com, by phone at (904) 620-BIRD (2473) or at the UNF Arena Ticket Office.

Win No. 400: Head coach Mary Tappmeyer earned her 400th career victory on Saturday night in the Ospreys' 54-53 win at Tennessee State

Beating The Buzzer: Senior Destinee Smith's buzzer-beater was UNF's first since Larkira Jones beat the clock at Jacksonville on Feb. 26, 2012. Jones' buzzer-beater gave UNF the 46-44 win at Jacksonville's Swisher Gymnasium. Smith was a freshman on that UNF team.

Home Sweet Home: The Ospreys play three of their next four games at UNF Arena before a brief holiday break. In addition to Thomas, UNF hosts the Hampton Inn Oceanfront Holiday Classic Dec. 20-21. The Ospreys play Wofford (Dec. 20) and Western Carolina (Dec. 21) and both games are at 3 p.m.

Scouting Thomas: Enters Saturday with a 6-3 record… has won its last two games and most recently posted a 71-56 win at home against Florida Memorial on Dec. 6… began the season with a four-game winning streak… Courtney Saunds averages a team-best 19.1 points per game, while Jessica Anderson averages 11.4 points… Bria Joyner-Williams leads the Nighthawks with 7.0 rebounds per game.
