StetsonWeekly Notes JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida volleyball continues its six match road swing with at Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson this weekend. The Ospreys begin the weekend at Florida Gulf Coast on Friday at 7 p.m., at Alico Arena, and conclude it at Stetson on Saturday at the Edmunds Center at 3 p.m.
"It's early in the conference season, but this weekend will be a big test for us," said head coach
Steve Loeswick. "Both Florida Gulf Coast and State are tough places to play and have very talented teams. We had several great moments last weekend and we need to put those together for a complete match. We had a great week of practice and are looking forward to what this weekend has in store for us."
The first five matches of UNF's six-match road swing are all against Atlantic Sun opponents and began last weekend at Jacksonville. It is the most consecutive Atlantic Sun road matches for the Ospreys. The last time UNF experienced that many consecutive away conference matches was in 2004 when the Ospreys had a five-match Peach Belt road swing.

Florida Gulf Coast concludes a six-match homestand this weekend. The Eagles picked up their first conference victory with a 3-0 sweep of Stetson last Saturday. Florida Gulf Coast is one of two A-Sun teams averaging over 13.0 kills per set for the season. Olivia Mesner is hitting a conference-best .320, while Gigi Meyer leads the Atlantic Sun with 10.90 assists per set.
Florida Gulf Coast leads the all-time series 15-4 and UNF has yet to win at Alico Arena. However, under Loeswick, UNF is 2-3 against the Eagles with both of those wins coming in five sets.
Stetson attempts to rebound from its loss to Florida Gulf Coast, but goes into the weekend with only one home match under its belt. The Hatters defeated Bethune-Cookman 3-1 on Sept. 24 at the Edmunds Center. Stetson is one of two teams sitting in second behind UNF for total blocks (97.0) and has made an A-Sun leading 170 block assists. Shelby Connors is third in the A-Sun in blocks per set (0.92), while Kayla Weller is third in assists per set (10.33). McKenna Foster and Madison Akins average 3.22 and 3.02 kills per set, respectively.
UNF leads the series 15-4, but last season's matches were split with each team winning in five sets on its home court.
