ATLANTA, Ga. – No. 75 University of North Florida's men's tennis team earned two singles wins and one doubles victory, but ultimately fell 4-2 against Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
 
"Today was another great learning experience for our team," said head coach Mark Finnegan. "Every single court had chances to put the match away and we didn't execute that. We have to keep growing and learning about our game and how we want to be as a team and individually. We will eventually find out our true potential and talent with this team. We came close again to compete 100 percent mentally, physically and emotionally, but we still haven't reach that goal yet as a team."
 
The Ospreys' No. 2 doubles team of Caio Gomes and Yannick Zuern claimed a 6-2 victory over Georgia Tech's Nathan Rakitt and Casey Kay. However, the Yellow Jackets won at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots to clinch the doubles point.
 
In singles, Jack Findel-Hawkins and Zuern had UNF's two singles wins. Findel-Hawkins defeated Eduardo Segura 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot.  Zuern earned a three-set victory over Cole Fiegel 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in the No. 4 position.
 
Norbert Nemcsek, Gomes and Pablo Tellez all went three sets in their respective matches. In the No. 1 spot, Nemcsek fell 6-4 in the first set, but claimed the second 6-5 (12-10) to force a third set. However, Nemcsek fell 6-5 (7-4) in the final set. Gomes earned a first set 6-4 win against Carlos Benito at No. 2 singles, but fell 6-5 (8-6) and 6-1 in the final two sets. Tellez fell in the first set 6-5 (7-1), but forced a third set after winning the second 6-2 against Anish Sharma at the No. 6 position.   However, the match did not finish and ended at 3-3 in the third set due to Georgia Tech getting to four points first.
 
The Ospreys have a week off before traveling to Tampa, Fla., to take on USF on Sunday, Feb. 2 at Noon.
