Buerchner, Nemcsek Fall in NCAA Men's Doubles Championships Round of 16

URBANA, Ill.Senior Moritz Buerchner and sophomore Norbert Nemcsek finished up play at the NCAA Division I Men's Doubles Championship on Friday with a 6-4, 6-3 loss to Georgia's Hernus Pieters and Ben Wagland in the Round of 16.
 
Buerchner and Nemscek battled during a close opening first set, but with the set tied 4-4, Pieters and Wagland scored the first set's final two points in order to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Then trailing by three and facing match point in the second set, Buerchner and Nemscek picked up a critical point in order to make it a 5-3 set. However, Pieters and Wagland won the set and the match on the next point in order to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals.
 
The 2012-13 season was an impressive one for Buerchner and Nemscek, who finished the year with a 17-7 record, including 12-4 in tournament play. In the fall, the duo reached the semifinals of the 2012 ITA All-American Tennis Championships and earned both an at-large invite and a first-round victory at the USTA National indoor Intercollegiate Championships. Additionally, they are the first pair in UNF history to play in the Division I Men's Tennis Doubles Championship.
