JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida baseball team posted a 2-0 shutout victory over Florida A&M at Dusty Rhodes Field at Harmon Stadium on Wednesday night to improve to 24-11 overall on the season. The Ospreys used a combined shutout effort from starter Evan Incinelli and reliever Ryan McMahon to improve to 17-6 at Harmon Stadium.

Incinelli scattered seven hits on the night – all singles – in 7.0 innings of work. He allowed one walk and struck out a pair of batters. The sophomore used solid defense behind him to prevent a run from crossing the plate and secure his fourth victory of the year. Incinelli gave way to McMahon for the final two innings. The junior allowed one hit in 2.0 innings of work to record his first collegiate save.

Offensively, North Florida struggled to find its rhythm. The nation's top team in hits was limited to just four hits on the night. Corey Bass, Tyler Marincov, Ryan Roberson and Drew Weeks each recorded base hits on the night with Bass and Weeks driving in a run apiece. Spencer Herrmann and Marincov each scored a run to provide the run support.

The Ospreys' defense excelled throughout the game, turning a pair of double plays, catching two runners attempting to steal and picking off a batter.

In the first inning, Incinelli allowed a pair of base hits, but induced an inning ending double play to escape any damage. The sophomore hurler used a second inning-ending double play for a 1-2-3 inning in the second inning, keeping the score knotted at 0-0.

North Florida threatened in the bottom of the second. With one out, Weeks reached base on an infield single – the first hit of the night for the Ospreys. The sophomore stole second base to move into scoring position. Corbin Olmstead extended the inning with a four-pitch walk. Weeks moved to third on a fielder's choice that allowed Kyle Brooks to reach base safely. With runners on the corners and two outs, Florida A&M used a foul out to left field to end the inning and leave the game scoreless.

Incinelli notched a 1-2-3 inning in the third. The Orlando native opened the inning with back-to-back strikeouts, and the sophomore induced a groundout to end the inning. In the fourth inning, Incinelli allowed a one-out single, but Bass cut down the runner trying to steal second to erase the runner. A foul out ended the inning for the second consecutive 1-2-3 inning.

Bass helped Incinelli and the Ospreys record their third consecutive 1-2-3 inning. With one out, the Rattlers placed a runner on base with a single to shallow right field. The Ospreys used a pop up to second base for the second out of the inning. Bass gunned down the second runner of the day trying to steal second to end the inning.

The Ospreys broke the scoreless tie with a run in the bttom of the fifth inning. With two outs, Herrmann worked the count full before drawing a walk. The sophomore advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Herrmann came around to score as Bass delivered an RBI single up the middle, giving North Florida a 1-0 advantage.

Florida A&M threatened in the top of the sixth inning. The Rattlers used a leadoff single to place a runner on base. In an attempt to generate a run, FAMU dropped down back-to-back sacrifice bunts to move the runner to within 90 feet of home. With a runner on third and two outs, Incinelli was able to escape the threat with an inning-ending ground ball to second base.

North Florida added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning. With one out, Marincov drew a walk to give UNF a base runner. The sophomore stole his team-leading 11th base of the year to move into scoring position. Roberson singled to center field to give the Ospreys runners on the corners. Weeks drove home Marincov as the sophomore reached on a fielder's choice. Weeks stole second base to move into scoring position, but the Green Cove Springs native was left stranded as a fly ball ended the inning with UNF leading 2-0.

The Ospreys worked out of a jam in the top of the seventh inning. With two outs, Florida A&M used a walk and a single to place the tying run on base. The two base runners successfully executed a double steal to both move into scoring position. Incinelli induced a fly ball to center field to end the inning without allowing a run.

McMahon took over on the mound in the top of the eighth inning. With one out, the Rattlers used a throwing error by the Ospreys to place a runner on first base. A single up the middle gave the visitors a pair of base runners and put the tying run on base for the second consecutive inning. Bass recorded the second out of the inning as the Preseason All-Atlantic Sun catcher threw a strike down to second base to pick off the lead runner. With two outs and a runner on first, the Ospreys ended the inning with a fielder's choice.

In the ninth inning, McMahon posted a 1-2-3 inning to preserve the win and earn his first collegiate save.
