Boxscore

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of North Florida baseball team played even with the University of South Alabama for the first eight innings, but came up just short as the Jaguars used a ninth inning run to claim a 6-5 walk-off victory. With the game tied 5-5 and one out in the bottom of the ninth, USA used a double to place the game-winning run in scoring position with a double down the right field line. The home team used a hit-and-run to score the runner on a base hit to left field and claim the win in the opening game of a three-game series with the Ospreys at Eddie Stanky Field in Mobile, Ala.

On the night, North Florida scored five runs on seven hits, including three extra base hits. Tyler Marincov paced the UNF offense, finishing the night 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two runs batted in, a home run and a double. The home run was Marincov's second of the season and the 16th of his career. Marincov is now tied with Alex Bacon for fifth in North Florida's Division I records for career home runs. The duo is each three shy of T.J. Thompson (2007-11) for fourth with 19.

The Ospreys added a run in the top of the second inning. P. Karmeris reached base on a fielding error by the USA third baseman. Corey Bass and Bacon each followed with walks to load the bases for UNF. With one out, Wielbruda drove a ball deep to center field. P. Karmeris was able to score on the sacrifice fly and push the lead up to 3-0.
