JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida women's tennis swept doubles and won five of the six singles matches in order to post a 6-1 win over ETSU on Saturday at the UNF Tennis Complex.
“I'm extremely proud of the girl's focus and desire to win today,” said head coach Audra Cohen. “Everyone took care of their court and played to win.”
In doubles,
Aline Berkenbrock and
Lorena Aviles cruised past Paula Jaime and Karina Kedzo 8-1 at No. 1.
Simona Weymar and
Rebeca Pereira posted an 8-3 No. 2 doubles victory over Jessica Brumit and marine Wieliczko.
Danielle Day and
Melanie Aguirre add an 8-2 No. 3 doubles win over Giulia Andreazza and Kelsey Williams.
In singles, Berkenbrock down Jaime 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 and Aviles posted a 6-1, 6-1 defeat of Andreazza. Day hung out for a 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 No. 3 singles win over Wieliczko and Weymar topped Diana Navrostska 6-4, 7-6 (5).
Marina Cunningham picked up a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Brumit at the No. 6 position.
ETSU's lone point of the day came at No. 4 singles with Kedzo defeating Aguirre 6-4, 6-2.
UNF hits the road for a mid-week match at UCF on Wednesday. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
