
Men’s Soccer Falls to No. 12 UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to nationally ranked UCF on Wednesday night at UCF Soccer Stadium in Orlando, Fla.
The Ospreys fell to 1-2-0 on the season, while the No. 12 Knights improved to 4-0 overall.
UNF recorded just four shots on the match, but made them count as the Ospreys took three shots on goal. North Florida's attempts were thwarted by the UCF goalkeeper who finished the match with three saves on the day. The Ospreys' Federico Bertele finished the match with three saves in his first collegiate start.
Freshman Aaron Conard led all UNF players with a pair of shots, including two shots on goal. Mauricio Valderruten added a shot while Pedro D'Avila provided a shot on goal.
UCF used a goal in the 16th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. The Knights' McKauly Tulloch took a pass from Kevan George across the top of the box, netting a goal past the Ospreys' keeper.
The Ospreys held the 12th-ranked Knights scoreless for the next 20 minutes, but surrendered a goal to UCF's Nik Robson from 25-feet out in the 36th minute of the match to fall behind 2-0.
Neither team was able to score before intermission and the Ospreys entered the lockerroom at halftime down by a pair of goals.
The match remained 2-0 until a late goal by UCF's A.J. Nelson took a pass from George who crossed the ball from the left side of the net to put the hosts up by three in the 82nd minute.
North Florida continues its road swing as the Ospreys travels to North Carolina to take on UNC Greensboro (Friday, Sept. 9 – 7 p.m.) and Elon (Sunday, Sept. 11 – 2 p.m.).
