JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – No. 73 University of North Florida men's tennis team shut out Florida Gulf Coast, 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic Sun Conference match at the UNF Tennis Complex.

The Ospreys (13-6, 8-1 A-Sun) secured the doubles point to get out to a 1-0 lead over FGCU (3-18, 1-9 A-Sun).

Daniel Sotomarino and Hleb Maslau teamed up at the No. 2, defeating Steve Binninger and Frank Aciemo, 8-0. The UNF duo improved to 17-2 record this season. In the No. 3 doubles match, Pedro Davisson and Moritz Buerchner paired up for the Ospreys and secured an 8-0 decision over Dean Tsamas and Collin Brown.

The Ospreys swept the singles matches, winning five of the six matches in straight sets. In the No. 1, Maslau defeated Matthew Rock, 6-3, 6-0 while Buerchner secured a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Binninger.

Sotomarino notched a 6-1, 6-3 win over Carol Checchia in the No. 3. Davisson battled to three sets in the No. 4 match against Tsamas. The FGCU player won the opening set with a 7-5 win but Davisson answered with decisive wins in the next two sets, 6-1, 6-1.

Leonardo Nahar notched a point for the Ospreys in the No. 5 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Aciemo. In the No. 6, UNF's Beauregard Treyz defeated Mitchell Lvovsky, 6-1, 6-3.

UNF will host Middle Tennessee State in a non-conference match on Saturday, April 9 beginning at 2 p.m. at the UNF Tennis Complex.
