Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After dropping the doubles point, the No. 73 University of North Florida men's tennis team rallied back to sweep the singles' matches to defeat Stetson, 6-1 in Atlantic Sun Conference action on Friday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex.
UNF (12-6, 7-1 A-Sun) fell behind early, winning just one of the three doubles matches as Stetson (16-9, 5-4 A-Sun) took a 1-0 lead.
Hleb Maslau and Daniel Sotomarino claimed the No. 2 doubles over Cesare Gallo and Didrick Berg, 8-5. The UNF duo improves to 16-2 on the season.
The Ospreys responded in the singles matches, winning all six. Maslau took the No. 1 over Njal Stene in straight sets with scores of 7-6(8), 6-3.
In the No. 2, the Ospreys' Moritz Buerchner defeated Gallo, 6-3, 7-6(5) while Sotomarino claimed a 6-3, 7-6(9) decision for UNF over Berg in the No. 3.
UNF's Pedro Davisson won the No. 4 point in straight set wins over Alex Hackett with scores of 7-5, 6-3. In the No 6, Beauregard Treyz secured a UNF point with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Christopher Swanteson.
Leonardo Nahar battled SU's Hans Riseng in the No. 5. After falling behind, 6-4 in the first set, Nahar came back to take the second set, 6-5(4). The UNF player went on for a 10-4 win in the tiebreaker as UNF completed the sweep in singles' play.
UNF will be back on the court on Saturday, April 2, hosting Florida Gulf Coast in a 1 p.m. match at the UNF Tennis Complex.
