Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team secured a 6-1 win over Atlantic Sun Conference foe Belmont on Saturday afternoon in Nashville, Tenn.
The Ospreys (11-6, 6-1 A-Sun) won two of the three doubles' matches to get out to a 1-0 lead over Belmont (0-10, 0-7 A-Sun).
Hleb Maslau and Daniel Sotomarino notched an 8-3 win over the Bruins' Felipe Cirne Lima and Bruno Silva in the No. 2. The Osprey duo improves to 15-2 on the season.
In the No. 3 doubles, Leonardo Nahar and Pedro Davisson paired up for the Ospreys to defeat Jonathan Murrell and Christopher Bates, 8-4.
Maslau notched a win in singles play, securing a 6-4, 6-1 win over Rafael Matos in the No. 2. Davisson secured a win in the No. 3 with scores of 6-4, 6-4 over Silva.
In the No. 5 singles, Beauregard Treyz shutout Bates with a 6-0, 6-0 win, while Anton Rabinov recorded a 6-3, 6-0 win over Murrell in the No. 6.
Nahar had a hard-fought win over Lima in the No. 4 after Lima took the opening set, 6-3. Nahar came back to win the second set, 6-1 and secure the match with a 10-7 decision in the tiebreaker.
UNF's Daniel Sotomarino battled in the No. 1 singles, claiming the opening set 6-3 over Rodrigo Amaral. The Bruin player answered in the second set with a 6-3 win and held on in the tiebreaker, claiming the set with a score of 10-8.
The Ospreys will return home for a three match home stand, beginning with Stetson on Friday, April 1 with a noon start time at the UNF Tennis Complex.
