JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The University of North Florida volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (14-25, 20-25, 15-25) decision Saturday afternoon to Atlantic Sun leader Lipscomb at UNF Arena.

Paige Pridgeon had a team-high seven kills and Casey Giovanazzi tallied 12 assists. Defensively, Nicole Baran tallied 14 digs, while Carolyn Jenkins made five blocks – one solo and four assist.

Katie Rose had a 14-kill, 11-dig double-double for the Lady Bisons.

“We need to play high-level competition to continue to improve and play great volleyball,” said head coach Kevin Campbell. “We are continuing to build up our confidence while under pressure. Although I am happy with the level of volleyball we are playing, I was not happy with the loss. But we took a step forward as a team and I am looking forward to training on Monday.”

Small runs by the Lady Bisons proved to be the difference in all three sets.

With Lipscomb holding a four-point lead in the first set, a Pridgeon kill pulled the Ospreys to within three. However, the Lady Bisons used a 5-1 run to pull away from UNF and ultimately take the first set 25-14.

In the second set, UNF came back from a four-point deficit to take a 15-14 lead. However, several late runs allowed Lipscomb to regain the advantage and gradually pull away for the 25-20 set win.

Trailing by six midway through the third set, a Julie Trembley kill sparked a UNF run that made it 15-12 in favor of Lipscomb. However, the Lady Bisons scored the set's next four points en route to building a large enough cushion to win the set 25-15.

UNF travels to Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
