Box Score MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team defeated Middle Tennessee State, 4-3 on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
UNF (17-7) won the No. 3 doubles match as the freshman duo of Leonardo Nahar and Moritz Buerchner defeated Alex McCann and Kyle Wishing, 8-4. The Ospreys lost the doubles point early, but rallied back in the singles matches.
Buerchner also secured a win in singles action with a 7-6(3) win in the first set before MTSU's (4-18) Richard Cowden retired in the second set at the No. 2. Nahar continued his winning ways into singles matches with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over McCann at No. 5.
At the No. 3, junior transfer Hleb Maslau fell behind in the first set, 7-6(5) to Matthew Langley, but came back to win the next two sets, 6-2, 6-4. Junior Graham Edgar defeated Kyle Wishing 6-0, 6-4 at No. 6.
The Ospreys fell in the No. 1 singles as No. 28 ranked John Peers defeated freshman Daniel Sotomarino, 6-3, 6-1. Freshman Taylor Albrecht also had a hard-fought match at No. 4 as he battled Shaun Waters to three sets before falling 6-4, 6-7(8), 6-3.
UNF will be back on the court on Sunday, April 10, facing Memphis at 10 a.m. in Murfreesboro, Tenn. at the Buck Boulding Tennis Center.
