JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team played a close match, holding off Mercer for a 4-3 win in Atlantic Sun action on Saturday afternoon in Macon, Ga. UNF improves to 14-4 overall and 5-1 in the A-Sun.

The Ospreys won two of the three doubles matches over the Bears (6-7, 0-4 A-Sun) to secure the point early. Freshman Daniel Sotomarino and junior transfer Hleb Maslau paired up at No. 1 to defeat Fernando Armendaris and Evandro Rosindo, 8-5.

In the No. 2 doubles freshmen Leonardo Nahar and Moritz Buerchner defeated Adam Hunt and David Barton, 8-1.

Maslau secured the point for the Ospreys at the No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Rosindo. At the No. 3 Sotomarino played a tough three sets against Peter Tauchner, picking up the 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over the Bears. Senior Kurt Gattiker secured the final singles point for the Ospreys with a 6-4, 6-3 over Hunt at the No. 6.

In the No. 2 singles Buerchner battled Armendaris to three sets before falling 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4). Nahar also played a tough three set match at the No. 4, but fell to Victor Dias, 7-6(4), 3-6, 7-6(4). Junior Graham Edgar fell to Barton in three sets 7-6 (9-7), 3-6, 6-3.

The Ospreys will be back on the court on Friday, March 26 when they host USC Upstate at 10 a.m. UNF will host Campbell on Saturday, March 27 at 1 p.m.
