JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The No. 70 ranked University of North Florida women's tennis team picked up its second sweep of the weekend, defeating Lipscomb, 7-0 in Atlantic Sun action on Saturday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex.
The Ospreys (11-1, 4-0 A-Sun) grabbed the doubles point from the Bisons (4-8, 0-3 A-Sun) to begin the match. Juniors Lauren Holton and Victoria Krook held Carlina Jow and Julianne McMeen scoreless to win 8-0 in the No. 3 doubles.
Sophomore transfer Danielle Day and freshman Melanie Aguirre had an 8-4 win at No. 2 over Danielle Hansen and Kara Jackson. Sophomore Aline Berkenbrock and senior Raquel Castro fell behind early at No. 1 but came back to defeat Mackenzie Bishop and Elizabeth Keevil, 8-4.
Berkenbrock secured the point for UNF in the No. 1 singles with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Bishop. Castro had a 6-0, 6-1 win over Keevil at No. 2.
In the No. 3 singles Day held Hansen scoreless with scores of 6-0, 6-0. Krook had a 6-1, 6-0 win over Jackson at the No. 4 while Aguirre defeated Jow, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5. Holton rounded out the singles matches with a 6-0, 6-1 win over McMeen at No. 6.
The Ospreys will remain at home to face Samford on Tuesday, March 16. Match time is slated for 11 a.m. at the UNF Tennis Complex.
