JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team defeated Atlantic Sun foe Lipscomb, 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex.

The Ospreys improve to 12-4 overall and 3-1 in the Atlantic Sun while Lipscomb falls to 3-3 and 0-3 in the league.

UNF swept the doubles matches to score the first point of the day. Senior Kurt Gattiker and freshman Taylor Albrecht held off a late surging Daniel Hangstefer and Mario Hernandez team to secure an 8-6 win at No. 1.

Freshman Daniel Sotomarino and junior transfer Hleb Maslau defeated Chad Peirron and James Murrell, 8-5 at No. 2 while freshmen Leonardo Nahar and Moritz Buerchner had an 8-1 win over Tanner Brown and Colby Shaw at No. 3.

Buerchner also picked up a point in the No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Hangstefer. Maslau, playing at No. 2 for the second straight match, secured the 6-0, 6-2 win over Pierron.

Sotomarino added a 6-1, 6-0 win over Murrel at No. 3 while Nahar defeated Hernandez, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4. Junior Graham Edgar had a 6-1, 6-0 win over Brown at No. 5.

The Ospreys will be back on the court on Friday, March 19 when they travel to Kennesaw State for a 2 p.m. match. UNF will remain on the road for an 11 a.m. match on Saturday, March 20 at Mercer.
