JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team picked up the doubles point and five singles matches to defeat Atlantic Sun foe Belmont, 6-1 on Friday evening at UNF Tennis Complex.

UNF (11-4, 2-1 A-Sun) picked up the doubles point to start out by winning two of the three matches over the Bruins (4-6, 0-3 A-Sun). Freshman Daniel Sotomarino and junior transfer Hleb Maslau paired at No. 2 to defeat Joao Paoliello and Bruno Silva, 8-3.

In the No. 3 doubles match freshmen Leonardo Nahar and Moritz Buerchner had an 8-5 win over Rodrigo Amaral and Filipe Cirne Lima.

Buerchner picked up a win in the No. 1 singles, defeating Renato Antun in a tough 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 three set match. Maslau held Paoliello scoreless in the No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Sotomarino secured a point at No. 4 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Rafael Matos. In the No. 5 singles, Nahar defeated Silva, 6-0, 6-0. Senior Kurt Gattiker outlasted Lima at No. 6 as he picked up a hard-fought 2-6, 6-1, 10-5 decision.

The Ospreys will be back in action on Saturday, March 13 when they host Lipscomb at 10 a.m. at the UNF Tennis Complex.
