STATESBORO, Ga. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team picked up the doubles point and three singles matches to defeat Georgia Southern, 4-3 on Saturday afternoon in Statesboro, Ga.

Freshman Daniel Sotomarino had the deciding match in the No. 4 with a win over Mathijs Verdam after the pair battled to three sets. Sotomarino picked up the 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 win for the Ospreys (7-3).

UNF also picked up points in the No. 1 and 3 singles matches. Freshman Moritz Buerchner defeated Jayraj Jadeja 6-2, 7-6(2) in the No. 1 while junior Hleb Maslau picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win over Gregory Bekkers in the No. 3.

The Ospreys picked up the doubles point early after sweeping all three matches. Freshmen Taylor Albrecht and Buerchner teamed up to defeat Juan Mellian Puigventos and Bekkers, 8-7(5) in the No. 1.

In the No. 2 doubles Sotomarino and Maslau paired up to defeat Justin Flynn and Jadeja, 8-4. Senior Kurt Gattiker and freshman partner Leonardo Nahar had an 8-5 win over Verdam and Alain Garrido.

The Ospreys open Atlantic Sun play on Thursday, March 4 when they travel to Fort Myers, Fla. to face Florida Gulf Coast at 2 p.m. UNF will follow that up with a trip to DeLand, Fla. to face Stetson in a 10 a.m. match on Saturday, March 6.
