NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The University of North Florida volleyball team fell to Atlantic Sun leading Lipscomb 3-0 on Friday evening in Nashville at Allen Arena.
Leading UNF (5-19, 2-5 A-Sun) was Paige Pridgeon with nine kills. Marshay Greenlee added five kills. Jessica Catelano tallied 11 assists while Britt Claessens had 10. Nicole Baran notched eight digs.
For the Bisons (17-6, 6-0 A-Sun) Alex Kelly had 14 kills. Meghan Hinemeyer tallied nine kills. Jake Pease had 34 assists for Lipscomb and four players notched six digs to lead the team.
The two teams were close early in the first set, but the Bisons went on a 6-0 run to go up, 16-5. The Ospreys were unable to overcome the difference, falling 25-11 in the opening set.
In the second set, Lipscomb got out to an 11-5 lead, but the Ospreys cut the lead down to one at 14-13. The Bisons responded, extending their lead to 21-13. UNF pulled within five at 24-19, but Lipscomb held on for a 25-19 win in the second.
Lipscomb again jumped out early, taking an 11-6 lead. UNF would close the gap late in the match, pulling within seven at 23-16 and again at 24-17, but that is as close as the Ospreys would get as the Bisons claimed the match with a 25-17 win.
UNF will be back on the court on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. EST against Belmont in Nashville, Tenn.
