Volleyball Falls to Belmont, 3-0

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The University of North Florida volleyball team fell to Belmont, 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in Atlantic Sun action in Nashville, Tenn.

For the Ospreys (5-20, 2-6 A-Sun) Paige Pridgeon led the way with 10 kills. Marshay Greenlee added five kills. Britt Claessens tallied 18 assists. Defensively, Nicole Baran had 10 digs.

The Bruins (11-13, 5-2 A-Sun) were led by Kayla Britton with 14 kills. Maggie Johnson added nine kills. Hannah Miranda posted 37 assists and Megan Clements notched 14 digs.

The two teams kept it close early in the opening set before the Bruins got out to a 17-9 advantage. The Ospreys were unable to overcome the deficit as Belmont claimed the opening set, 25-12.

In the second set, the Bruins jumped out early to take a 14-8 lead. Belmont held on to the lead and took its largest at 24-14. Belmont secured the final point to take the set, 25-14 and a 2-0 lead in the match.

Belmont got out to a 13-4 lead in the third set. The Ospreys closed the gap to eight at 20-12. UNF made a late run to pull within six at 23-17, but that is as close as the Ospreys would come as the Bruins took the final set, 25-18.

UNF will be back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 2 in a non-conference match at home against Georgia Southern at 7 p.m.
