JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The University of North Florida women's volleyball team had a tough time executing on offense on Saturday and dropped a 3-0 match (23-25, 14-25, 24-26) to East Tennessee State.
UNF (6-4, 4-1 Atlantic Sun Conference) had its lowest hitting percentage of the conference season with a mark of .082 and snapped its five-match winning streak. Sophomore Marshay Greenlee was the Lady Ospreys' most efficient performer with four kills and a .444 hitting clip.
"This match was a wakeup call for us," head coach Kevin Campbell said. "It is a long conference season, and every team is going to come at us because we started out so strong. We came into today not very motivated, and we learned a lesson. We will have to work very hard in practice this week to change our fate this coming weekend against two tough teams in Belmont and Lipscomb."
Sophomore setter Madie Belvin put up 21 assists and 11 digs, while UNF's top two performers on offense this season, sophomore Kaley Read and junior Agata Dawidowicz, had a tough time generating momentum for the Lady Ospreys. Read hit just .136 and had seven kills, while Dawidowicz hit .174 and had eight kills to go along with five service aces. Read also tallied 11 digs.
The Lady Ospreys will return to UNF Arena at 7 p.m. on Friday against the Lipscomb Bisons, who are tied for first in the A-Sun. The match will be aired live on ASUN.TV, and live stats will be available on UNFOspreys.com.
