FORT MYERS, Fla. - The University of North Florida women's volleyball team was speechless when trying to find an answer for Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday.
UNF (8-8, 6-4 Atlantic Sun Conference) hit just .119 in a 3-0 loss (8-25, 21-25, 14-25) to the Eagles, who are tied for first place in the A-Sun. FGCU's Ana Kokanovic, the 2007 A-Sun Player of the Year, put up a match-high 16 kills, nine digs, seven aces and a .448 hitting percentage (16-3-29).
Junior Agata Dawidowicz and sophomore Danielle Lerch were the top attackers for the Lady Ospreys with five kills each. Freshman Lizzy Manno recorded a team-high 13 digs, while sophomore Madie Belvin finished with 15 assists.
UNF's best chance to snatch a win came in the second set when it took a 20-19 lead off a kill from senior Bary Rasmussen. But Kokanovic took over for the Eagles, tallying three kills in a 6-1 run.
The Lady Ospreys will return to action at 7 p.m. on Friday against Campbell at UNF Arena. Live stats and live video will be available via UNFOspreys.com.
