MOBILE, Ala. - The University of North Florida women's tennis team dropped its season finale on Saturday afternoon, falling to 52nd- ranked South Alabama 5-1.
The Lady Ospreys (14-7) lost two of three doubles matches, getting their win from Ina Durcakova and Florencia Torres at the No. 2 position. Durcakova and Torres -- ranked 59th in the latest FILA Collegiate Tennis Rankings -- knocked off South Alabama's Yana Bokareva and Jelena Krivacevic 8-6 to cap the season with a perfect 15-0 record.
The only other victory for UNF came at No. 3 singles, where Torres upended Sylvanie Spangenberg, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0. South Alabama (15-9) took wins at No.1, 2, 5 and 6 singles. The No. 4 match between UNF's Natalia Sanchez and Krivacevic was not finished.
Saturday's match was originally scheduled for 3 p.m. Eastern but was rescheduled for noon (ET) due to impending rain in the Mobile area. It marked the final career matches for seniors Torres and Catalina Castillo.
