NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The University of North Florida women's tennis team improved to 12-3 overall with a 6-1 win over Atlantic Sun Conference foe Lipscomb on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Ospreys (6-2 A-Sun) swept through doubles play with three easy victories and then took the top five singles matches in straight sets to win their third consecutive match. Lipscomb fell to 4- 6 overall and 0-2 in A-Sun play.
UNF's Natalia Sanchez upended Olivia Ellis 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles to win her sixth consecutive match. Florencia Torres won her fourth straight in singles play for the Lady Ospreys by knocking off Emily Ellis 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 3 position. That came after Torres teamed with Ina Durcakova for an 8-0 win over the Ellis sisters at No. 2 doubles, improving the duo's season record to 11-0.
Catalina Castillo (6-2, 6-4 at No. 1), Vanessa Sanchez (6-1, 6-2 at No. 2) and Robin Rogers (7-6, 6-2 at No. 5) captured the other singles wins for UNF. Lipscomb's only win came at the No. 6 position, where Caitlin Khouri defeated UNF's Carolina de Melo 6-3, 5-7, 11-9.
The Lady Ospreys cap their Atlantic Sun Conference season on Saturday when they stay in the Music City to face Belmont. Match time is set for noon.
