JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida men's tennis team breezed past Mercer 7-0 in Atlantic Sun Conference play on Friday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex to win for the fourth time in five matches.

The Ospreys (4-5, 3-0 A-Sun) suffered only one setback during the match -- that coming at No. 2 doubles where Mercer's Patrick Russo and Chapman Mitchell knocked off UNF's Matias Sigal and Yuiti Lopes, 8-2.

UNF still won the doubles point by capturing victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, however, and then swept singles play, with five matches finishing in straight sets. UNF's Glen Marshall knocked off Mitchell, 6-4, 2-6, 10-8, at No. 6 singles in the only match to require extra play.

Matias Sigal (6-4, 7-6), Eduardo Pereira (6-2, 6-4), Javier Ferrin (6-4, 6-2), Elad Gabay (6-1, 6-3) and Leonardo Gomes (6-0, 7-5) posted wins for the Ospreys at the top five positions, respectively.

Mercer fell to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

"This was a great warm-up for the match against ETSU this weekend," UNF head coach Igal Buberman said. "The guys played solid, and we are happy with the way things are going. It is always good to get a conference win. We have a tough weekend ahead, but we are looking forward to it."

The Ospreys will travel to Johnson City, Tenn., on Sunday to face off against ETSU, one of top teams in the A-Sun this year. The Bucs are 8-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Match time is set for 12 p.m.
