CHARLESTON, S.C. - The
University of North Florida softball team's string of
hard times at the Cougar Invitational in Charleston,
S.C., continued on Friday with a pair of losses.
UNF (3-4) fell in its opening game of the tournament 4-
2 to College of Charleston before dropping a 6-1
decision to North Dakota State. UNF has now lost five-
straight games in Charleston, dating back to last
season.
"We did nothing to help us win tonight," UNF head
coach Sonya Wilmoth said. "No aspect of our game
was working."
Heather Hyde had the most productive day for UNF,
collecting a hit in both games including her first home
run in a Lady Osprey uniform. She belted that home
run in the bottom of the sixth against College of
Charleston, cutting a four-run deficit in half. That's all
the damage the UNF offense would do in that game,
however, as the Lady Ospreys collected six hits, but
struck out 11 times.
Katie Brosky (2-1) suffered the loss, allowing four
earned runs and seven hits in five innings of work.
UNF's defense let it down in its second game,
committing six errors in a loss to North Dakota State.
Elizabeth Howell drove UNF's only run of the game
with an RBI single that scored Gwen Williams in the
fourth inning.
Devyn Findley (1-1) suffered the loss for UNF.
The Lady Ospreys are back in action on Saturday
taking on Manhattan before getting a second crack at
North Dakota State.
