JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The North Florida men's tennis team remained undefeated in Atlantic Sun Conference play on Saturday afternoon by upending Mercer 7-0 at the UNF Tennis Complex.
The Ospreys (7-4, 4-0 A-Sun) swept the doubles competition, winning all three matches, and then captured wins in singles from Matias Sigal (No. 1), Jose Terrera (No. 2), German Escallon (No. 3), Elad Gabay (No. 4 ), Leonardo Gomes (No. 5) and Glen Marshall (No. 6) to post their second shutout of the season.
Only the No. 2 singles match went three sets, when Terrera defeated Mercer's Warren Woolfork 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 in a super tiebreaker.
"Everyone played really well," UNF coach Igal Buberman said. "It was a solid performance, and the guys really kept up their intensity level the entire match. All wins are good wins, and we'll certainly take this one. We continue to improve every match we play."
Mercer fell to 2-5 and 1-1 in league play.
The Ospreys return to action on Monday afternoon when they face Division II Ferris State - which is ranked 31st nationally - at the UNF Tennis Complex. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
