JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Junior Maeagan Weisert caught fire on Friday night - collecting 20 kills while hitting .581 - to propel the University of North Florida volleyball team past Mercer 3-0 in Atlantic Sun Conference action at UNF Arena (30-21, 30-21, 30-20).

Weisert also had 12 digs for her 15th double-double of the season. Her attack percentage was a career best and proved to be contagious for UNF, which hit a season-high .400 as a team with a season-low nine errors. The Lady Ospreys (12-13, 3- 1 A-Sun) hit .417 in the opening game, .422 in game two and .364 in the finale to win back-to-back matches for the first time since early September and pull within a game of .500 for the season.

Amy Stroder had 14 kills for UNF, while Jenna Thomas paced the attack with 51 assists and 13 digs.

"We had a good night hitting the ball, and Maegan Weisert was right there at the front of the pack," UNF head coach Bryan Bunn said. "We passed the ball extremely well and finished opportunities when we had them. We came ready to play and took control. I was proud of the effort and happy with the win."

The Lady Ospreys led from wire to wire in the first two games after racing out to big early leads against the Bears (8-16, 1-4 A-Sun). UNF led 7-1 and 19-9 in the opener, getting six kills from Weisert and four from Allison O'Neill to fuel the charge. In game two, the Lady Ospreys again raced out to a 7-1 advantage and stretched that to margin 19-12. Seven kills from Weisert and six each from Emily Kohler and Stroder led the way in game two.

Mercer took its first lead in game three, but it was to be short-lived. UNF erased a 3-2 deficit with a 12-3 rally, including a 5-0 run that pushed the advantage to 14-6. Mercer battled back to within 25-19 but couldn't get closer.

The Bears hit just .114 for the match with 21 errors. Karen Dorris had 10 kills, the only Mercer player in double figures.

UNF returns to action on Saturday afternoon when A- Sun foe Stetson pays a visit to UNF Arena. Match time is set for 3 p.m.
