UNF drops season opener

IRVINE, Calif. - The University of North Florida men's soccer team received a goal from freshman forward Rohan Culley in the 61^st minute of the Ospreys season opening match with the University of California Irvine on Saturday night at the UC Irvine College Classic, but was unable to keep pace with the Anteaters as UNF dropped its season opener 3-1.

The goal was the first of Culley's collegiate career.

Linus Johansson, Martin Pettersson, Cord McCoy and Martin Schuhte each tallied one shot for the Ospreys (0-1-0), while Culley led the squad with two shots.

The Anteaters (1-0-0) jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the Ospreys were able to net their first goal of the season when Matt Murphy and Anthony Hamilton found the net in the 26^th minute and 61^st minute, respectively.

UC Irvine added an insurance goal in the 83^rd minute of the match to secure the win.

Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Frost tallied four saves for UNF, while Ryan Mathy recorded two saves for UC Irvine.

UNF will be back in action on Monday when they take on No. 24 Loyola Marymount at 2 p.m. ET.
