Wright, Le'Titia

Le'Titia Wright

A former track star and North Florida graduate, Le’Titia has excelled on and off the field during her time as an Osprey. As an athlete, she was an All-American at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Indoor National Championships in 1996, finishing fourth in the 400 meters. She also finished eighth at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics Track and Field Championships in 1995. Le’Titia graduated from North Florida, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education (Secondary Mathematics) in 1998 and a Masters of Education (Secondary Education – Instructional Technology) in 2005.

The former sprinter set school records during her time at North Florida for both indoor and outdoor track and field in the 55 meters, 60 meters, 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, and was a member of record-setting relay teams (4x400 meter relay, sprint medley relay and distance medley relay). Since coming back on staff as a coach, all of her records have been re-written, with the exception of one relay – the distance medley.

"It is definitely an honor to be able to come back and coach at the same university for which I competed," Le’Titia  said. "I am proud of the progress that the program is making. The move to Division I has brought so much exposure to the university. Hosting nationally-recognized meets (i.e. NCAA DI East Prelims, FHSAA State Track & Field Championships, AAU/USATF youth meets) definitely gives us a little bit of an edge when it comes to recruiting. We hope to attract more outstanding student-athletes who will help us in our efforts to continually develop this program and make it just as successful as the top programs in Division I."

Before returning to North Florida, Le’Titia taught math at William M. Raines High School. She stood as a leader in her profession, serving as the chairperson for the math department, becoming a National Board Certified Teacher, and being named ‘Teacher of the Year’ for Raines High School for the 2008-09 school year. Silas started coaching in 2000, assisting the women’s track and field team at Raines to back-to-back Class 2A State Championships in 2008 and 2009. Le’Titia is married to her husband, Vernon, and has two daughters, Brianna and Jasmine.
