Benji Mastandrea

Mastandrea joins the Osprey staff as an assistant coach after serving as the video coordinator at Illinois State from 2021-23. He returns to North Florida after attending the university from 2015-2019.

In his two seasons as a video coordinator, Mastandrea assisted the staff to a combined 43-23 overall record and a 29-9 record in conference play. He helped the team to a MVC Tournament championship in 2022 to help Illinois State make their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 14 years.

In 2022-23, the Redbirds were MVC regular season champions for the first time since 2009-10 with a 24-9 overall record and 17 wins in conference play. The team made a WNIT berth in 2023 in Mastandrea's second season with the team.

Before becoming video coordinator, Mastandrea was a graduate assistant coach at Illinois State from 2019-2021, where he helped the team to their first postseason berth in the WNIT in eight seasons. He graduated from the university with a Master's of Science in Sport Management.

Other experience that Mastandrea has in athletics before his stint at Illinois State was as an intern for the Director of Athletics and an assistant varsity basketball coach at Episcopal School of Jacksonville from 2018-19.

He graduated from North Florida with his Bachelor's of Science in Sport Management in 2019.
