Kayla McGory joins the Osprey staff as an assistant coach for the 2024 season after playing softball for UNF from 2017-2022.
In her first season as an assistant, she helped the team to a 35-19 overall record, as well as a 17-7 conference record, and a runner-up finish in the ASUN Championship tournament. She also assisted in developing five All-ASUN selections in 2024, including First Team & Second Team honoree Allison Benning as a two-way player.
McGory is one of the most decorated UNF softball players in program history, as she started 221 times in the 224 games played in her career. She notched 192 hits in 648 at bats, 116 RBI, 121 runs scored, and 18 home runs over her six-year tenure.
She left UNF sitting in the top-three for multiple D-I era program records, including at bats (2nd), runs scored (2nd), hits (3rd), doubles (T2nd), RBIs (T2nd), total bases (3rd), and stolen bases (3rd), and double plays turned (2nd). She will also finish her career as the program’s D-I leader for most games played, most games started, most walks, most triples and most assists.
During her freshman season, she made the ASUN’s All-Conference First Team, All-Freshman Team, and was selected as Defensive Player of the Year. She also earned her first ASUN Player of the Week honor after combining for five hits, 10 RBI, three runs scored, and a grand slam in the River City Rumble against JU as a sixth-year graduate.
She graduated from North Florida with a Master's of Exercise Science and Chronic Disease.
