Andrew Barth

Andrew Barth joined the North Florida men's soccer program in August of 2013. Barth serves as assistant coach and works with the Osprey goalkeepers. In addition, Barth helps to coordinate the Derek Marinatos Soccer Academy (DMSA).

Barth has worked with two of the top goalkeepers in school history in his first four seasons. His hard work helped Kyle Nasta win the 2014 Atlantic Sun Goalkeeper of the Year and NCSAA All-Region honors twice. Prior to Nasta, Barth coached Brad Sienkiewicz who is second all-time saves in North Florida men's soccer history.
 
Barth came to the Ospreys after a year at USC Upstate serving as an assistant women’s soccer coach for goalkeeping during the 2012 season. In his time with the Spartans, he worked directly with goalkeeper Sarah Plantz who ranked among the nation’s leaders in saves. She earned All-Atlantic Sun Conference honors and was tabbed the 2012 Atlantic Sun Conference Goalkeeper of the Year. In addition, Plantz was also named 2013 Preseason A-Sun Keeper of the Year.
 
Under Barth’s tutelage, Plantz was tremendous between the pipes in 2012 for Upstate. She tallied a league-best 122 saves and ranked 15th in the nation in total saves. She logged more than 1,500 minutes in goal for the Spartans and made nine or more saves in five matches with two shutouts on the year. She topped all A-Sun keepers in saves per game en route to earning league Goalie of the Year and First Team All-Conference honors. She became the first Upstate women's soccer player to earn a major individual award and all-conference honors from the A-Sun.
 
He was an assistant with the 2011 Anderson University women’s soccer team that went 9-10-1, helping goalkeeper Kaitlyn Neipp earned First-Team All-South Athletic Conference honors that season, as well as All-SAC Tournament honors. Under Barth’s direction, Neipp earned Second Team All-SAC honors in 2012.  
 
Barth served as the Director of Goalkeepers at Clemson Anderson Soccer Alliance (2010-13) and Furman United Soccer Club (2008-13) prior to coming to North Florida. In 2013, he was also named the new Director of Goalkeeping at Westside Soccer Club in Jacksonville.
 
In addition to soccer, Barth also has a strong background in strength and conditioning as he was also a personal trainer and performance coach at Performance QSA in Greenville. S.C. (2007-13).
 
Barth finished his collegiate career at Anderson University where he earned All-Conference honors in the Conference Carolinas in 2006 and was named the team’s Most Improved Player. He also went on to play two seasons in a Semi-Pro Indoor League and Player Development League (PDL).
 
The Flint, Mich., native started his college career at Rochester College before transferring to Anderson in the summer of 2005. Barth obtained his bachelor’s degree in physical education in 2010.
 
He started playing soccer at age six where he played his club soccer for LaForza FC and Michigan Wolves. He went on to play all four years of high school varsity soccer and won All-Conference honors his senior year.
 
Barth served as the goalkeeping coach for Anderson University during the 2008 season and then worked as the Residential Goalkeeper Director for Derek Marinatos Goalkeeper Academy (DMGA) in 2009 and 2010.
 
Barth holds a USSF State and Regional Goalkeeping Coach Diploma. He also holds a USSF National “D” Level Coaching License. 

In 2015, he married the former Jenny Herman who works at UNF as the Athletic Academic Counselor. The couple have two daughters.
