Softball Sweeps Doubleheader Against Queens

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball dominated on both sides of the plate to start off senior weekend with a doubleheader sweep of Queens on Saturday afternoon at UNF Softball Complex.

The Ospreys were cooking early with five runs scored in the first two innings of the first game highlighted by Allison Benning smashing a solo shot for her 18th home run of the season. Four more runs scored in the fourth pushed UNF to its 12th shutout of the season, as well as its 12th run-rule win on the year.

On top of her solo shot in the second inning, Benning also spun just over four innings in the circle with eight strikeouts and no runs allowed for her 20th win in 2025. She becomes the fifth pitcher in D-I program history, as well as the second since 2013, to reach 20+ victories in a single season.

In the following game, it was the same story with early scoring leading to success with four runs scored in the bottom of the first for the Ospreys. Four pitchers entered the circle in the back-half of the doubleheader, but Kylah Berry earned the win with four innings pitched and three strikeouts to move to an undefeated 5-0 this season.

Eight of the nine starters in the Ospreys lineup recorded a hit in the series opener. The second game had a different pace with the eight hits from UNF coming from four batters with Lauren Brock, Hadlee Reichert and Chloe Culp each recording multi-hit games.
