JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's tennis handled South Florida, 4-3, in its home opener on Monday.
 
North Florida clinched the doubles point behind wins on court one and three. Redshirt junior Isabel Oliveira and freshman Nicole Alfaro Solis made swift work at the top court, 6-1, before the freshman pair of Aryana Bartlett and Gabby Goyins secured the initial lead with a 6-4 win on the third court. Junior Laurie Barendse and redshirt junior Anslee Long led 5-4 on the second court when the point was secured. 
 
North Florida maintained its momentum to start singles action when Goyins claimed court six in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. Oliveira extended the Ospreys' margin to 3-1 with a three-set battle on court two, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Junior Laurie Barendse secured the match for North Florida with a 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-4 win on court one. The final two points for North Florida were won by Barendse and Oliveira after first-set losses at the top two positions.
