JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's basketball put up a strong start to begin its rivalry matchup against Jacksonville, but the second-half surge from the Dolphins was too much in a 63-52 defeat in the River City Rumble on Saturday afternoon.
After a tied opening quarter and a four-point lead in the second period, the Ospreys couldn't find its rhythm on offense in the second half. Three Ospreys hit double-digits on the score sheet, plus
Kaila Rougier's 10-rebound performance, but JU got the best of UNF in the first of two games this season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
FIRST HALF: Sarah Taub started off the rivalry-game festivities scoring a three-pointer, followed with a layup score to get five quick points for UNF...after a drive from
Nicole Carreno to the bucket while being fouled,
Jazmine Spencer added another three to end the opening period with a tied score...the Ospreys continued their hot start with a trey from
Helena Rafnsdottir...
Sydney Pettis joined Spencer with layups to extend their lead to three...three straight makes from distance pushed the lead even more with Stinson grabbing two of the three...a second score from Carreno ended the half with the Ospreys up by four.
SECOND HALF: Spencer stopped a short run from JU out of the break to keep the score tied in the third quarter...
Nia Brown hit a quick jumper paired with
Maddie Millar's first three-pointer since 2023 to keep it close at the end of the period...Rougier and Stinson added more points to UNF's total to draw the deficit back to six points...Taub added a trio of layups through the rest of the fourth, but it was too much to overcome at Swisher Gym.
