JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's soccer (3-5-2, 1-1-0) scored a pair of goals in each half to prevail in the River City Rumble, 4-3, against Jacksonville (1-6-3, 0-2-0) on Saturday evening at Hodges Stadium.
David Perez continued his impressive start to kick off conference play with a brace against the Dolphins. He now has scored three goals in two matches, including both of his goals scored within the first five minutes of each half.
Joaquin Acuna joined Perez in the scoring to give UNF four total goals, which was the most scored in an ASUN matchup since the 2018 season finale against NJIT. The Osprey offense has now produced eight goals in its last three games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the opening minutes of play, the Ospreys struck again early with a goal from Perez in the fourth minute of the JU defender's deflection.
- UNF continued to control the pace early with multiple corners, include a near second goal in the 14th minute.
- The Dolphins responded in the 26th minute with a score of their own to equalize.
- Just moments later, Perez was close to adding another score with a great assist from Rentaro Miyakawa, but it was saved by the JU keeper.
- Acuna made his impact off the bench with a score in the 38th minute to go back up by one assisted from Miyakawa.
- In the winding minutes of the half, JU put a free kick in the goal to make it a 2-2 score at the break.
- Just like the first half, Perez scored once again out of the gate to quickly regain the lead at a 3-2 score.
- A cross in from Luc Granitur deflected off of a pair of JU defenders' heads and went in the goal for the Ospreys to double their lead.
- The Dolphins cut the deficit to just one goal in the 63rd minute after a good cross hit the foot of a JU attacker to sneak inside the net.
- UNF's defense held strong through Jacksonville's attacks in the final minutes to pull out the 4-3 home conference win.

- It was the third-straight game for UNF with a goal scored inside the first five minutes of the match.
- Perez scored the second and third goals of his Osprey career, as well as a trio of goals to start off ASUN play.
- After being out the previous two matches, Acuna came back better than ever with his first goal of the season.
- Alfie Mattocks and Miyakawa both notched their second assists of the year in the offensive shootout.
- UNF comes out of Saturday night with a 14-14-2 all-time record against JU, as well as wins in nine of their last 12 regular season matchups.
- Ospreys outshot JU, 10-8, and had more shots on goal, 6-4, as well.
- After using the same starting lineup in consecutive games, Braden Masker entered as a starter for the second time this season.
