Miliancano Makes Season-High Six Saves

FORT MYERS, Fla. - North Florida women's soccer (3-3-3, 0-1-0 ASUN) dropped its Atlantic Sun opener to FGCU (2-4-1, 1-0-0 ASUN), 2-0 on Thursday evening, concluding a three-match road stretch.

  • First Half: Goalkeeper Sofia Miliancano was called into action early, making two crucial saves just two minutes into the match … in the 17th minute, Milancano stopped a shot from Henley Maya Buisan, forcing a corner … Zara Siassi tallied the Ospreys first shot on goal in the 21st minute, but it was saved by Eagles goalkeeper Olvia Molina … FGCU took the lead in the 29th minute after a rebounded shot found the back of the net following a save from Miliancano … the Eagles ended the first period with a one goal advantage, outshooting the Ospreys by eight, with Miliancano making five saves. 
  • Second Half: After a quiet opening ten minutes to start the second period, Brenna Robinson saw a shot saved by Molina in the 57th minute … Miliancano recorded her sixth save of the evening in the 64th minute, denying Erika Zschuppe … the Ospreys pushed for an equalizer, with Brooklynn Fugel and Avery Raimondo subbing on in the 66th minute and immediately testing Molina with a pair of shots … FGCU extended its lead in the 72nd minute … Despite outshooting the Eagles in the second half, the Ospreys were unable to find the back of the net, falling in its conference opener, 2-0.
