Third Weekly Conference Honor for the Ospreys This Season
ATLANTA - North Florida baseball graduate pitcher Peter Holden helped lead his team to a crucial Friday night victory against Kennesaw State on his way to a second career ASUN Pitcher of the Week award, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
The Vero Beach, Fla., native pitched six innings tallying eight strikeouts with only two earned runs allowed against Kennesaw State, as he has now combined for 17 punch-outs in his last two starts. His performance assisted UNF in the 4-3 comeback road victory against the Owls over this past weekend.
This is the second ASUN Pitcher of the Week honor for Holden in his career after winning his first during the 2022 season in a complete game shutout against Kennesaw State. It is also the third honor given to an Osprey this season, as Tony Roca as been awarded by the conference twice already.
"Peter [Holden] is one of the best competitors I've had the opportunity to coach, and Friday was no exception," said head coach Joe Mercadante. "Pete battled and competed for us in some very big spots against a very good Kennesaw State club. He kept us in the game and put us in position to win a big ball game for our team on the road."
Holden looks to keep the Ospreys' momentum with his next start slated over the weekend against North Alabama from May 10-12 in Florence, Ala.
