Baseball Defeats Dartmouth in Big 11-2 Home Victory

Osprey Offense Erupts For 11 Runs & 11 Hits To Extend Winning Streak

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida baseball (6-3) extended its winning streak to five straight games with an impressive 11-2 victory over Dartmouth (0-4) on Friday afternoon.

UNF scored early and never looked back, reaching base over 20 times during the victory. Osprey pitching struck out ten hitters and only allowed two runs in the game.

The Ospreys got off to a great start, scoring three runs off of Dartmouth starter, Clark Gilmore. UNF scored two runs on a throwing error and scored their third courtesy of a Matthew Clements RBI single. Tripp McKinlay would drive in the team's fourth run in the second inning on a groundout. The scoring would not stop there, as Cherokee Nichols would launch a home run, his team-leading third of the year, to make it 5-0.

Peter Holden would stifle Dartmouth's hitting, making it through five scoreless innings. He would run into trouble in the sixth, allowing his first run of the day, giving way to Will Ohme. Ohme would escape the sixth, but would have problems in the seventh. He allowed a run and was taken out with the bases loaded. Clayton Boroski would take over and made it through the inning, striking out two and avoiding any more damage.

The Ospreys would score four more and blow the game open in the seventh. Connor Moore and Drew Leinenbach would each pick up RBIs on sac flies, while Jabin Bates plated two on a double. UNF would continue their strong offensive day in the eighth, as Gabriel Esquivel and Tyler Gerteisen both had RBI base hits. Boroski would lock down a near three-inning save, while striking out six batters.
